Do I have to select a specific service?

Yes, if possible, but it’s okay if you’re not sure what service will be most helpful. The discovery call is useful in clarifying what type of service will be most helpful. It’s not uncommon to be unsure about the difference between therapy and coaching and I can make specific recommendations about which modality will work best for you.

What is your fee structure?

Fees for my services are billed on an hourly basis and must be paid before or on the same day of your appointment. Following an initial consultation, I will review rates and the anticipated length of service and/or treatment. Check, cash, or Venmo are acceptable forms of payment.

I do not directly bill insurance, but clients may elect to submit paid invoice information to their insurance plan as may be applicable and beneficial. Please note that many insurance plans do not reimburse for coaching and assessment services. It is your responsibility to speak with your insurance carrier to clarify your out-of-network benefits and to seek reimbursement using the invoice (called a “superbill”) I provide.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate detailing how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers are required to give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including mental health services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including mental health services. You may ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make certain to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What can I expect from telepsychology services?

According to the American Psychological Association (2021), telepsychology is as effective as in-person therapy, and the same curative factors that contribute to successful outcomes in in-person therapy are also present in telepsychology.

Here are a few tips to make our telepsychology services effective:

  • You will be provided with a secure link to a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform. Please make sure you are in a quiet, confidential location, free of distractions, for your session.
  • Please log on at least 5 minutes prior to the session to make sure your technology is working appropriately. Once you log on you will be in a virtual waiting room, and at the time of your appointment you will be transferred to the virtual therapy room with me.
  • I will ask you to provide your physical location and a call back number in case of an emergency or technology problems that might disrupt the call.
